1. Entrance
Exam:
The Kurdistan High Council for Medical Specialties will choose which applicants
are admitted upon successful completion of the entrance exam. They will compete
against each other, with a 50% passing score.
There are sixty questions (one best answer). Two hours are allotted for the
exam.
The marks are calculated as follows:
- Passing score (35/70), entrance exam (70%).
15% of colleges are ranked.
15% for college grades.
10% bonus points.
- Candidates (Track One) will receive a final mark consisting of (70) points
plus (30) points for college rank and grade plus (10) points for service.
Applicants in Track Two will receive 100 marks for the exam. Final mark =
passing mark (50/100).
The Ministry of
Higher Education awards 4% for a master's degree or higher diploma, 2% for a
one-year diploma, and 2% for each year for veteran resident physicians, as long
as the total stays under two years. One year, as long as it's not longer than
two years.
The entrance exam takes place in October once a year. The same rules as above
will apply to the trainees who are admitted in parallel; they will compete
among themselves rather than in the regular system.
While they cannot go from the parallel system to the normal system, trainees are still eligible to reapply in the upcoming years. Those specialties with openings on the parallel system and candidates who passed the regular system may apply for admission on the parallel system when the entrance exam results are announced, provided they passed the entrance exam.
Applications from
other centers may be eligible to use any open seats in one of the training
centers (both normal and parallel), provided there are no applicants in that
center or no graduate candidates. This is done in an effort to fill every seat.
All provinces' applications will compete if there is only one training center
available for the training program.
If two or more
applicants have the same grade, the council's decision will be finalized based
on years of service, other criteria, or both.
A special committee will carry out the manual verification procedure following
the examination. The outcomes will be verified and then submitted for approval
to the Council Presidency. The results will be released following their return
from the Ministry of Higher Education, where they were submitted for approval.
The complaint procedure will start as soon as
the results are published and be finished in 48 to 72 hours. The results of the
applicants will be examined by the special complaint committee.
The accurate results will be accepted and released in the case that there is a
chance to review the applicants' results in both the audit and objection
committees.
After doing their job, the pulp and audit committees both create a report that
they send to the Examinations Directorate.
